Mikel Arteta admires the quality of Manchester United’s attacking machinery ahead of the English Premier League (EPL) action against Arsenal early tomorrow morning.
Arsenal, who have lost in the previous two EPL games, have traveled to Old Trafford to win first place against United since 2006.
Arteta admits the level of performance displayed by Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by the end of last season.
United have since brought in Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani and beat RB Leipzig 5-0 at UCL, while Odion Ighalo is another striker of choice.
“They have a very good relationship and everything is very different,” Arteta said.
“They look comfortable when in action, have excellent understanding and relationships on the field. You can see it.
“They can play two or three different formations – they can switch several formations because of opponents, because of the quality of the players they have and sometimes to change the game at certain moments.
“We have to be prepared for that because they have the ability to adapt. They have a big squad and in front of them they have a lot of options to do different things.”
United have won eight of their last 13 home league games against The Gunners, a five-time losing streak 14 years ago.
Arteta added, “I want to believe that we are getting closer to winning there.
“Certainly our focus is to get there and win. That’s the approach we will take and the game we will implement.”
Arsenal beat United 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium last January, so Arteta has a chance to become the second manager in club history to win the first two games against the Red Devils, after Herbert Chapman in 1925-26.
He will look forward to a better appearance than his captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has played five unbeaten league games for the first time since November 2014, while playing for Borussia Dortmund.
