MUNICH, Germany: Leroy Sane says Bayern Munich are more hungry for success after the German winger scored in his debut for thrashing Schalke 8-0 in the opening match of the Bundesliga today.
“We are still hungry, even though we won the treble last season,” said Sane after scoring two goals for Serge Gnabry, who celebrated a hat-trick at the Allianz Arena.
“Winning the first match at home 8-0 was great.
“I think it’s great to finally be able to play with friends,” said Sane, who spent most of his last season being sidelined at his former club, Manchester City due to a knee injury since the start of the season.
“It was a good day with a lot of goals.”
Only after 26 days of winning the Champions League final, Bayern continued their pace with their 22nd consecutive victory.
Leon Goretzka, Thomas Mueller and Robert Lewandowksi also found the goal while England youth Jamal Musiala, 17, became Bayern’s youngest player to score in the Bundesliga when he was included late in the game.
