COVID-19: Serie A Continues this June 13

SERIE A announces June 13 as the resumption date of the 2019-2020 season following a three-month suspension of the COVID-19 pandemic. SERIE A was postponed March 9 when COVID-19 spread across the country, with Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte banning large gatherings and sporting events.

Serie A has confirmed that June 13 has been set as their target to return for the 2019-2020 season.

In a statement: “Serie A members met yesterday via video conference.

“Serie A asserts that, in connection with the 2018-2021 audio visual rights licensee, there is a need to comply with the payment deadline set by the contract.

“With current developments including permitted sports activities, June 13 is a date for football resumption, in line with government decisions and medical protocols for the protection of players and everyone.”

The announcement was made after the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) received a request to adjust their medical protocols to better comply with government regulations.
