LONDON: Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood hired an insider to help them bring two Icelandic women into a hotel room while representing England.
The two players reportedly paid hotel staff to take the women when the COVID-19 protocol forbade the presence of visitors.
The Manchester United and Man City star’s actions were exposed after the woman uploaded a picture of them spending the night at an England team hotel on social media.
England manager Gareth Southgate dropped the two teenagers from the squad and drove them home for violating COVID-19 guidelines.
Foden and Greenwood apologized for their actions upon their return to Manchester, a few days after their debut for England.
Their deal with model Nadia Sif Lindal Gunnarsdottir, 20, and her cousin Lara Clausen, came after a match that saw England win 1-0 over Iceland.
“They are looking forward to meeting the women and need the help of the hotel staff, who are well paid,” said a source close to the England team.
