Pep Guardiola praised Jack Grealish’s adjustment brilliance at Manchester City ahead of a visit to Newcastle United.
City are one point ahead of Liverpool in the English Premier League (EPL) after creating seven straight wins. Another win will see them set a new record for the league’s most wins in a year, 34 times.
Most recently, they thrashed Leeds United 7-0 in the middle of the week with their most expensive star, Grealish, also finding the finishing touch in an impressive performance that also saw him complete 41 of his 43 passes in addition to receiving the highest foul, three times in the clash.
It was only the second league goal for the former Aston Villa captain since moving to the Etihad Stadium, and he even produced two assists.
It was also his first header in the league, but Guardiola insisted he was pleased with the England international’s comprehensive contribution.
In fact, only Trent Alexander-Arnold (47), Bruno Fernandes (45) and Mohamed Salah (34) have created more chances than Grealish (30) in the English major leagues this season.
“Jack is an excellent player. He has a very high quality and has played so well for us,” said the Spaniard.
“It is important for every player to feel that they are capable of contributing goals, in fact he has played well throughout the season and we are aware of what is expected of him.
“It takes some time to adjust to the new team and pattern of play, but Jack knows what he has to do and we will continue to see his progress.”
