LONDON: Jurgen Klopp is challenging Liverpool to save their Premier League season with a final effort to finish in the top four.
Klopp’s side are currently seventh and five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the race for next season’s Champions League.
The Reds’ win over Wolves before the international break was only their fourth win in the Premier League since Christmas which saw them lose eight times.
With nine league games remaining – starting with a visit to Arsenal early this Sunday morning – Liverpool boss Klopp is aware his side cannot make mistakes.
“We don’t have a lot of points to waste anymore but we have a challenging program, not only in the Premier League but also in the Champions League,” Klopp said a moment ago.
“We’re not going to dodge, we’re going through it and I hope we can do it on Saturday.
“It’s always been a challenge for the team after the break of international competition, with players returning from their home countries with different game systems and different planning.
“We only had one session to do it together again and it was a challenge but we were used to doing it.
“We realize what we want for the rest of the season we can only get if we win the game, and the first is at Arsenal.”
