PARIS: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) bounced back from a deficit to beat 10-man Saint-Etienne, 3-1 in Ligue 1 action with Lionel Messi involved in all three goals.

The match also saw the debut of Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, while Neymar left the pitch in pain from an ankle injury.

PSG now have 40 points, 12 ahead of second-placed Rennes after recording a 2-0 win over Lorient for their sixth win in seven games.

“I’m happy with the performance of the whole team and the effort shown by the players, especially Lionel Messi who helped us win this match,” said PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Saint-Etienne took the lead when Deni Bouanga passed an offside trap and beat Gianluigi Donnarumma in the 23rd minute. The offside flag was raised but a video replay of the referee’s assistance (VAR) confirmed the goal.

The hosts, occupying the second-bottom spot in the league but coming off two wins in a row, seemed to dominate the game in the cold and snowy weather.

But their performance was affected after the incident of a red card on Timothee Kolodziejczak who fouled Kylian Mbappe.

PSG equalized through a Marquinhos header and Angel Di Maria put his side ahead in the 70th minute before Marquinhos ensured victory in injury time.
