Paul Pogba took responsibility for Manchester United’s 0-1 defeat to Arsenal, admitting that he had made a “schoolboy mistake” when he awarded a penalty kick that was a divider to the English Premier League (EPL) match, early this morning.
Although the squad coached by Mikel Arteta only scored a single goal at Old Trafford, it turned out that the game was in favor of the visitors.
Arsenal put in an impressive performance in the first half, the pressure on the opposing area managed to push United and caused the hosts to struggle while trying to organize the game from behind.
The winning goal came in the second half when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completed a penalty after Pogba was blamed for dropping Hector Bellerin due to the haste of the French international who blocked the Spanish player’s run.
Thus, the mistake continues to hover in the mind of the 27-year-old player.
“We know the show we are showing is bad. I personally, I can not do such a rough thing,” he told BBC Sport.
“I thought I would be able to touch the ball, but I did not – I caused us to miss a penalty.
