LONDON: Lionel Messi is only ranked 97th in the world for the most valuable footballer.
Cristiano Ronaldo is ranked 131st with the two best players in the world behind Manchester United player Daniel James.
The list was released by the CIES Football Observatory, which uses performance factors, age and contract length, as well as the clubs represented to determine a player’s value.
Their study puts Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford at the top of the list with a value of 150 million pounds, surpassing Erling Haaland and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
What is surprising, however, is the position of Messi and Ronaldo who dropped far down.
At least 10 United players – Rashford, Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Donny van de Beek, James, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay and Victor Lindelof – are on top of the world’s top two players.
James, valued at 55 million ponds, is ranked 75th.
