Real Madrid, Atletico Lead La Liga

MADRID: Real Madrid equals Atletico Madrid’s points at the top of La Liga after Casemiro’s header and eighth league goal Karim Benzema this season gave Granada a 2-0 win.

Granada has caused problems for Zinedine Zidane’s squad in several previous meetings but their concentration in front of goal has paid off in this Serie A match.

After a goalless draw in the first half, Real started pushing and exchanging Marco Asensio for the injured Rodrygo increased the hosts’ rhythm.

Real almost broke the deadlock when Toni Kroos’ shot hit the post and goalkeeper Rui Silva, followed by Benzema’s missed attempt.

A minute later Real was in front of Casemiro’s solid header which got Asensio’s cross in the 57th minute.

Three minutes into injury time, Benzema widened the gap to secure three points for Real.

“It made six wins in a row, but we had to work hard to get it.

“When things get tough, I accept criticism but in situations like tonight, you have to enjoy it,” Zidane said.
