LONDON: Cristiano Ronaldo is doubtful to play in Ralf Rangnick’s first appearance as Manchester United’s interim manager tomorrow with a knee injury.
Ronaldo’s absence will be a huge blow to Rangnick who yesterday said he wanted to get the best performance from the 36 -year -old.
Sources at United say the Portuguese star injured his knee while celebrating the winning goal over Arsenal at Old Trafford. Yet he continued the game but was finally sent off in the 88th minute.
“You have to always apply your style or your philosophy of the game to the existing players, not the other way around.
“Seeing Cristiano play against Arsenal in the second half, at 36 he is still a great professional player.
“At his age, I’ve never seen a player who is still physically fit like him. We play in the most competitive league in the world, so all the players are needed.
“From what I see, Cristiano is still able to do it, make a contribution to the team. His teammates have to do the same,” said Rangnick who will face Crystal Palace tomorrow night.
