PARIS: Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to give him 101 international goals for Portugal in a 2-0 win over Sweden who played 10 men in the League of Nations just now.
Ronaldo scored his 100th goal in the first half by deflecting the ball to the left of the goal without being saved by Swedish goalkeeper Robin Olsen.
The 101st second goal came in the 72nd minute when the former Manchester United and Real Madrid players broke the Swedish defense and exploded into the corner.
“There are two important goals because it means I managed to reach the level I was looking for,” Ronaldo told Portuguese television RTP.
“I was very happy, first because the team won and of course when scoring the 100th and 101st goals, two great goals.
“It’s sad to play without an audience, just like going to a circus but no clown or to a flowerless garden,” Ronaldo said.
“Speaking for myself, when I play away, I like to be cheered, it gives me motivation.”
After making his international debut for the first time at the age of 18 in 2003, Ronaldo scored his first goal for Portugal in a 2-1 defeat to Greece at Euro 2004.
