Scholes: United Don’t Need Pogba

LONDON: Paul Scholes claims Paul Pogba should not play for Manchester United again after he was sent off during the defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The French midfielder started on the bench but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer included him after United trailed 4-0 at the break.

However, the United planner was involved in causing Liverpool to get their fifth goal in the 50th minute.

To make matters worse, Pogba was sent off after making a dangerous tackle on Naby Keita.

With Pogba’s contract set to expire next summer, the player’s future at Old Trafford continues to be in question.

“It’s not enough to just say it’s been a disappointing day. I think we’re all aware that it’s tough, I think the operators are still emotionally lulled by the resurgence (against Atalanta) on Wednesday.

“We can bounce back in a match like that but you won’t be able to do it against Liverpool, they have a very high quality.

“I think it’s not because of effort, tactically they were indeed formed to accept things like this and unfortunately it did happen.

“Paul Pogba came in during the break to help the team, trying to show his strength on the pitch, but was the cause of the fifth goal.

“Then he was sent off for a rough tackle, and you were 5-0 down and playing 10. You’d think, if Ole is still the manager, will Pogba continue to wear the United jersey?

“He sparked chaos a few years ago. Everyone knows his talent, trusts him, every operator trusts him, trying to give him a chance.

“With his attitude, I don’t think the club will lose him if he doesn’t continue to play for United,” Scholes said.
