Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone said Luis Suarez may come down to meet Salzburg in the Champions League (UCL), despite missing a training session with the squad.
Suarez trained individually ahead of Group A action with Austrian club Salzburg in Madrid.
Simeone – who was with Atletico when they lost 4-0 to defending champions Bayern Munich, – gave Suarez his fitness level, saying, “He will be listed in the squad.
“We have agreed for him to train alone and we will see tomorrow, whether he will be relegated to the starting line-up or starting from the bench.
Suarez has been brilliant since moving to Atletico from Barcelona at the start of the season.
The 33-year-old has scored four goals in five league games, including his second goal in a 2-0 home win over Real Betis.
Suarez also scored his 150th goal in LaLiga earlier this month, becoming the second fastest player to reach that number – faster than Lionel Messi and just behind Cristiano Ronaldo.
Asked if he was surprised by Suarez’s impact, Simeone replied: “Surprised, no.
“I found the player I heard on the phone when we first contacted and saw there was an opportunity for him to join us.
“He wants to be here and prove it. Let’s hope we can help him.”
