MANCHESTER: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to play against West Ham, yesterday.
The 36-year-old scored a goal in the Premier League at London Stadium to help United win 2-1 over West Ham on Sunday.
However, he was rested for the third round of the League Cup at Old Trafford and the Red Devils were eliminated in the third round and missed out on the trophy.
Solskjaer revealed Ronaldo wanted to play in the match but he felt it was ‘impossible’ to do so.
“We made some decisions (to make changes).
“We want the players to be fit to play. Alex Telles is back and has been training for a week.
This is a long season.
“Cristiano came and gave a change. He wanted to play as much as possible but I think that’s not possible.
“If you want to be successful at the end of the season, you need the whole squad and the minutes to be evenly distributed,” the United manager said.
Solksjaer also informed that the team played several matches behind closed doors so that they could get the rhythm.
“Making a change is at one risk but we are acting in private and we hope to find the rhythm,” he added.
