LONDON: Manchester United have signed Ajax designer Donny van de Beek for 39 million euros along with other additions.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made the 23-year-old Dutchman his first purchase this summer for a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
Van de Beek, scored 41 goals in 175 appearances for the Dutch club and played a role in Ajax’s progress to the 2018-19 Champions League semi-finals.
“This is an amazing opportunity for me to join a club that has a great history.
“I want to thank everyone at Ajax. I grew up there and will always have a special bond with the club.
“Now I am ready to take the next step in my career and play at the highest level with Manchester United,” said Van de Beek.
Solskjaer said: “Donny has all the technical features needed to excel with this team and he also has the personality to succeed at Manchester United.
“His ability to see the space, choose the right time to act and read the match meets the quality of our midfield and his arrival will strengthen the selection in that position.”
