DOHA, Qatar: Negotiations with Qatari club Al-Sadd to bring Xavi back to Barcelona as operator are now in the final stages.
Barcelona vice -president Rafa Yuste and football director Mateu Alemany have been here since Wednesday to get Xavi to replace the sacked Ronald Koeman.
Xavi, who has won eight La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues as a Barca player, said he could not wait to return home after guiding Al-Sadd for three years.
Xavi is the main candidate to replace Koeman but the Spanish star has two years left on his contract with Al-Sadd.
Sources close to the ongoing negotiations revealed, the deal to release Xavi has conditions under which Barcelona will play in a friendly match against Al-Sadd in Doha and the Qatari team will participate in the pre-season Gamper Cup tournament in Spain.
Barcelona have had to let go of Lionel Messi this season and admit they are now heavily in debt.
